Saturday 15th Feb. Arrival into Kat

PictureDinner at Helenas, Kathmandu
We have arrived safely into Kathmandu.

Despite my efforts yesterday to get everyone seated on the right hand side of the plane to see the Mt Everest, we saw nothing due to cloud..!!

The team still enjoyed their taxi ride from Kathmandu Airport to our hotel (always an eye opener for first timers) and have already commenced their shopping
(and haggling) for clothing and equipment.

We had rain in Kathmandu yesterday and I am told that all Lukla flights were cancelled..! Today is also cloudy, but the forecast is looking better. We have our fingers crossed for Mondays flight.

Today we will be finalising our hire equipment (minus10deg bags and down jackets) before setting out to see some of the incredible sights of Kathmandu. Dinner tonight at Rum Doodles.

All having a great time together and getting keen to get the trekking boots on
.

Yep, all enjoying the trip so far. Big day today looking over Kathmandu and doing a lot of tourist stuff.
Easy day tomorrow before our flight to Lukla on Monday.

The Bangkok carrier pidgeon tells me you had a real crack first night out. Kat is a whole new town with many great bars to explore,
Go Hard.

Ripper comment Bill. We just showed Kev. He responded "please tell me this hasn't gone public". We gave him the tragic news that it has..!!

I hope I haven't put the wind up Kev, an all night bender, getting home just in time to catch the 7.30 am taxi to the airport is a feat to be proud of. Let's not forget he'll have 10 days off the grog while on the treck so building up a reserve seems to be a smart strategy. Are there any photos from the night out suitable for posting on the blog?

HaHa - thought that I would be able to rely on Kev to keep up the great tradition.
Was it the deadly Gorka beer?
It was the Gorka that undid me - on a Rum Doodle night too, from what I remember (which is not a lot).
Like Bill says - go hard!!

So exciting to hear all the news and see some photos this evening. Watching the trip unfold with great interest. I'll be doing laps of 1000 steps tomorrow morning and thinking of you!

Jas. All having fun thus far. Although I have to admit that I lost 2 of the team today during a walk to Durbar Square. Yes, Courtney and Rhys!!!
No fear, they already know their way around Kat.

Sue, more the tour leader failing to do a count of the team prior to setting off...!! I'm considering roping them all together for any excursions today.

Hope the weather is fine for your flight in the morning.
Is this the last place to shower, you all start to smell bad from tomorrow onwards.
