Some of the team at Albert Park on the last training session.
Saturday 1st February. The team gets split on the final training session..!!
The plan was for a final attack of the 1000 Steps, but reports coming back to us as we were driving out there was that the Steps were closed resulted in last minute changes to the plan.

In the end, 4 were able to get onto the Steps and complete 3 - 4 circuits, while 7 re-directed themselves to Albert Park for 3 brisk circuits of the lake.

Then most came back to my house for lunch and some final discussion around our departure and the trip. Very enjoyable afternoon. Lot's of laughs.

Official training is now complete, with all the 2014 team achieving good preparation for the trip since our first get together back in July. Well done all.

Roll on Thursday 13th.....

Saturday 18th January. Macedon.
A beautiful walk. Eight of us from next months EBC team, as well as a few others completed the full day 19km classic Macedon Ranges Walking Trail. At times steep, but great track and excellent scenery.
Sat 11th January. Bairnsdale
Some of the 2014 team after a tough 14km walk up and down some very steep hills out the back of Bairnsdale. Well done for organising the walk as well as hosting us Sue.

Saturday 4th January. Buninyong.
The entire 2014 team, plus a few from 2015 and some additional friends on a pleasant hike up Mt Buninyong and observation tower.
Thanks Paulene and Des for putting on a good morning and great BBQ.

No problem. Sammy, Kevin and I are organising a porter between us to carry up Sammy's Baclava (Lebanese dessert). If anyone else wants to share the cost, let me know. Otherwise the only other dessert option will be a GF pancake made with fresh warm yak milk cream.

Not sure about the Baclava. I lost 1.5kg on the training walk, and then put back on 2kg from too much Baclava..!

i think you put the pounds on from the drinks ...

Hang on a minute David, you also had the cheesecake, and the chocolate cake. So don't go blaming the sweet innocence of the flaky buttery Bakclava for the gain in pounds. Oh, did I mention the bottle of Baileys consumed? You don't appreciate good dessert when you see it. Your mouth will be drooling when Sammy pulls the baclava out at 4000 metres. Sammy don't give him any.

ok,ok. Stop ganging up on me you two. I am about to head out to a gym with a dodgy air-conditioner and squeaky treadmill to work it all off.

First task to be completed upon arrival at the Guesthouse - find out if the missing jarmies have turned up. Carol Dodd suggests packing a spare pair should the same thing happen this year as we know this was a extremely stressfull & anxious time for you. There is also one member from last years team travelling again, who's name was at the top of your list of suspects?????

Bill
I know you had many highlights from last years trip. I suspect however that one of those highlights was breaking into my bag and stealing away from PJs..!!! While you took great delight in wearing NOTHING to bed (as demonstrated to all of your room sharing guests for the first 1/2 hr of EVERY morning), I experienced the discomfort of not having a protective layer between skin and sheet..!
Further, I don't believe Carol would weigh into any such debate. And Didi has yet to own up to any spare items arriving home with her.

That was a great deal you cut with that shop owner Bill. A pair of jarmies for the brand new sleeping bag. You made 3 Nepalese people very happy last year. The shop owner you gave David's jarmies to. The Rickshaw owner you gave David's sandals to and the lodge owner at gorek Shep who sold you a bucket of water to do your laundry in. His profits were up as he only ever does bed and breakfast. Not bed, breakfast and laundry. I'm sure the lodge owner will come out smiling "where's your friend" rubbing his palms together to simulate washing dirty laundry.

The committed walkers managed to do the steps

Oh...harsh, unfair and a touch cheeky.
Is there no credit whatsoever for 3 quick laps of the Albert Park Lake?

I agree with you Des. The coffee at the café at 1000 steps is better than the one I had at the kiosk on Albert Park Lake while waiting for Team 2014 to complete there final leg/s.

I'll just have to settle for 4 circuits of the 17 steps here at home. Does that count as a training session?

As you said Saturday Didi, you expected to finish the final training session, sweaty and with soreness. If you think 4 x 17 will work for you, count me out of Annapurna 2015

Wine, does this.......officially mean.........you're in for Annapurna 2015??? David, put his photo up. He been teasing us all this time. I'll look out for a new special Annapurna tassle hat for you for next year. Welcome aboard Big Man.

C'mon Big Man. Those mighty Annapurnas are calling you.

Didi, you already have about 20 possible takers for Annapurna. I could be the emergency. If I commenced the walk, I might need the emergency.

Wine. Didi is very accustomed to handling Emergencies..!! She has had to deal with a serious emergency with 2013 Bill as well as 2012 John. You're in safe hands.

A certain team member of 2013, dropped his guard for a very small moment and took for granted things you can normally do at sea level that become more of a challenge at altitude. Yes, an emergency unfolded before my "ears". Another team member of 2012 had a similar emergency, which resulted in one lucky local scoring themselves a brand new pair of white thermals. Wine, it's my caring, compassionate nature to such emergencies, that draws you to Annapurna 2015.
