Wednesday 5th Mar. Pokhara life

Hi all.

We've spent the last 2 days in Pokhara (Nepals 2nd largest city). Our intention was to do some tandem paragliding, hire some scooters and see the beautiful Annapurnas.

Result? No paragliding due to national championships taking place, no scooter hire due to the need to now have international licenses, and no view of Annapurnas due cloud...!!

Still great food and very relaxing walks along the lake and main tourist strip.

Hard to believe that a week ago today, we were slogging it up onto Kalar Pattar. (Coincidently, some of the team have headaches this morning, but not from altitude..!!!)

We are about to head out to the airport for our 40min flight back to Kat and catch up with John again. Then a final night in Kat before our departure for Bangkok tomorrow afternoon.

Sammy and Sue have already arrived back into OZ.

With Pokhara sitting at 800m above sea level, is it likely that altitude could be the cause of the headaches!!! I seem to remember Bill and Ray suffering similar type headaches.

Thanks Michel.
Yes, Pokhara is always part of the post trek r&r, although I'm considering no longer driving down there (6 long hrs) and instead flying both ways. Yes it misses out on seeing rural Nepal, but the road to Pokhara has become too deteriorated..!

Hope you weren't surprised at not being able to do what you wanted to do when you wanted to do it - after all isn't that the norm - think you'd be used to it by now! Enjoy the last couple of days & have a safe trip back all. Dave, get ready for a warm weekend back here with plenty of washing & no wife - we are kidnapping her remember???????Hehehehehe. Poor Dave.

Anne.
Pokhara normally behaves itself, but it was playing a bit difficult this year. Everything we wanted to do just didn't work out. Still good fun.
Ok, so wife way? That's it, I'm going out to upgrade my PC...!!

That's strange Dave, Anne is kidnapping my wife as well. Did you catch up with Paulene and Des?

We certainly did catch up with D&P. Paulenes' birthday yesterday, so a great night at Rum Doodles. We bought a cake and sang happy birthday in the restaurant. Band sang their own ripper version of happy birthday as well.
They've loved their trip mate and are already planning their return (or two).
