We were straight into a climb and it was really icy. A few groups along the trail all with crampons on their shoes makes me think we could be in for an interesting day. Elias took to the ice with ease, meanwhile Courtney and Sammy decided it would be easier to sit down on their backsides and slide down. Those who didn't want to get down on their backsides had no choice. Everyone was slipping. Our guide and porters are worth their weight in gold. Our guide had Liz's hand the whole way and kept her upright, helping Annie and Bill along the way also. Chris and I managed to get down without too many falls, more sliding, but managing to stay upright. This went on for 3 hours and was really steep at times. I'm really impressed that everyone got down without injury. Oh, one member of the team split her pants, so Bill had much pleasure walking behind her for the remainder of the day!!!
A well earned Beer for some certain members of the team, and now sitting around the lodge dining room while the sun sets on Machupachare......spectacular way to end a very hard day. Some card games going on as I update the blog, and each night Liz gets her note pad and pencil out to sketch the scenery. Nepal has cast its spell on this group already.
Chomrong tomorrow night so if we have wifi, I will update there.
