Annapurna Base Camp. Deurali (3200 metres) Sue 18/1

Not sure if my last update worked, so I will try again.

We are now in Deurali at 3200 metres. It is currently snowing heavy outside.

Everyone is trekking really strong given the steepness of this trek I'm really impressed with the team.

Chris weakened and purchased a pair of crampons at at good price off a Korean on his way back down. While the rest of us were slipping and sliding on parts of the trail, Chris casually walked past us quite proud of his purchase.

Quote of the day goes to Elias...."I'm running out of cash". Since when does a wog run out of cash, I ask? Ive since realized Elias doesn't haggle when purchasing hats or gloves needed for the cold nights.

Accommodation is very different to the Everest region. There are not as many lodges, so we are always sharing with other Trekkers. This means we have to share rooms each night. The topic of conversation around the breakfast table the next morning is normally who kept who awake Snoring. There is always one culprit, but he denies its him!!!

Tomorrow will see us standing at Annapurna Base Camp. We will climb from 3200 metres to 4130 Metres, where we will spend the night. It will be a tough day and talking to people coming down from base camp we can expect it to be minus 20 overnight.

Tonight we are hiring a heater to go under the dining table. They have huge rugs that go over the table trapping the heat in from the kerosene heater. They charge whoever sits at the table. I must admit I do miss the heaters from the Everest trek.

Will update from Annapurna Base Camp if I can.

Have only just been able to log on to read comments. Ironically I even commented that this trek needs to be done in January. February starting to get too busy and quite hot lower down

Ask Elias if he wants a loan. Actually, that's a waste of time. Moneybags Sammy is there.
Sounds like a great trek. Make sure there are lots of photos from there. Well done to all of you.

Elias was able to change some US money into Rupees. So he's happy. Sammy still ordering three courses but only eating one.

Wish I was there with you. NOT. Snow, ice, cold, snoring, having to share a room with Bill. Sounds like too much hard work. Off to the first day of Australian Open tennis today.
Good luck with the climb to ABC. Keep safe.

He's in denial wine, blaming everyone else, even the poor Koreans in the room next door. Enjoy the tennis. Bill says to say the real scorer is on the Everest trek!!!!

From what I've heard over the years of boys weekends (yes, I know, what goes on the boys weekends stays on the boys w/e's but some things just slip out by a few) my money's on BILL for the snoring!. Can only imagine the stories through having to share! Keep on keeping on guys!
