Everest Base Camp. Fri 20th Feb. Arrival into Kat

20/2/2015

We have arrived in Kathmandu.

The flight yesterday from Melbourne to Bangkok was 1/3 full, providing all of us empty seats to lay out on, watch a few movies and get some good sleep. Great way to travel.

We had a pleasant drink up on the rooftop of our Bangkok hotel, although a small group of "rebels" within the group headed out on the streets, and yes, one of them didn't get home until the sun was up!!! No names, no questions...!! (This a little dejavu...??)

We've arrived in Kat and have already completed a walk around just to get the group accustomed to the streets. They're keen to start their shopping for trek gear.

We have some touristy stuff planned tomorrow and will then complete our shopping on Sunday, ready for our planned flight into Lukla on Monday.

Good luck everyone. I hope the weather is as kind to you as it was for us so that you can enjoy every bit of your journey and trek experience. Ooh - la - la, a Kathmandu welcome with leis! Our welcome was a great big box labelled "human remains" being wheeled through the group. Best wishes, Grace Pulis

Nice...
The new rooms have gone up in price AGAIN., so we have the 3 rear garden rooms instead.

Well, I thought it was quite punny.

As for the rooms going up in price, it's called market supply and demand. The price would not go up if others went by themselves instead of bringing others along with them.

Garden rooms are the BEST, close to the beer (nd Baileys) garden!
