Everest Base Camp. Sat 28/2. Battling the weather!

28/2/2015

Hi all. Brief update. Lack of internet access is preventing more detailed updates and when I can, I can't upload photos!! Hopefully will find better connections soon.

We are battling weather at the moment. Clouds, cold and heavy snow. More forecast tomorrow. Hopefully it will settle after that, and particularly for Tuesday when we are due at Kalar Pattar and Everest.

The team are well and trekking strong.

What I would not give for the smell of yak dung burning in the stove and socks drying out all around it.. Dave, you would be missing a jokester like Didi to keep you amused? Keep the spirits up.

Stop egging me on Wine, I'm in enough trouble. It's sounding tough up there.

If it stops snowing & the clouds clear, it will be all worth it. Just remember how good those photos from the Annapurna trek were with all the snow. Has it dropped to minus 18 yet??? If not stop complaining!!!

Just an update on footy scores from the weekend Dave. Bulldogs d Tigers by 22 points as Western oval. (yes, I know it was only Nab cup and Tigers only had half side in). Bulldogs don't win too many. Pies d Hawks during the week as well.

I looks like you will be arriving, weatherwise, a day too early in Gorek Shep. Tuesday is forecast to be overcast with snow but clearing overnight, Wednesday is forecast to be clear and sunny. Thursday and Friday clear and sunny but I wouldn't trust the forecast beyond that.
Susan and I were talking about the weather and hoping that you know about this and were planning on holding out for an extra day for the view.

I agree Brian, hold out til Wednesday for KP. What's another night at Gorek Shep? Minus 20, 50% oxygen......call it "group bonding".

Don't forget the frozen toilets Didi!
..that bit of extra charm that Gorak Shep holds.
Long climb up KP to look at fog and clouds so yeh, worth the extra night (and you might nail the Nationa Geo sunset shot!!!)

Sammy, What were you thinking going on a dating dating site in the middle of the Himilayas. Ray, did you end up selling your photo to National Geo?

They should be at Gorak Shep well and truly by now, where they would have the best mobile phone signal to date. Given we haven't heard anything, maybe they're spending an extra night at Lobuche due to weather and will be in Gorak Shep tomorrow night.

Yes it appears that way!! Let's get it back on track.
