The one thing that is very different to previous trips is that no cars are allowed in the tourist area of Thamal now. I must say I do kind of miss the horns beeping and your elbows being knocked by the side mirrors on the cars. Something about playing that game of dare on a street that’s only wide enough for a car. Still, it’s nice to not have the fumes and the dust. Evan is happy as he has had his first Everest Beer that he claims he has longed for. Could he really be here just for the beer and has no interest in climbing to Base Camp??? Matt aka “the tall guy with the hat” decided he would go out and buy some new clothes. He wore them around for half the day and mentioned at dinner tonight that he is being offered “Hashish” everywhere he goes!!!! Could it be his new clothes??? We met up with Prakash tonight and got our Lukla tickets sorted (first flight David), porters and trek permits paid for. The chill didn’t disappoint and came through around 4pm. Most of us where the cooler side of comfortable eating dinner. It does take time to know what to wear when in Kathmandu as the days can actually be quite mild but the temp drops drastically. Sorry for you Victorians sweating it out in 35+. It’s around 6 degrees here. Tomorrow we are hoping to get a good chunk of our shopping done in preparation for the trek.
