Slogging it out on the Namche Climb. The groups training has certainly paid off.
Today was one of our first big climbs up to Namche Bazaar 3440mt. Hats off to Dorrie on today’s walk. A tummy bug yesterday, leaving her not able to eat but she woke this morning after a good nights sleep feeling 100%. Always hard to find the energy to push through when your not feeling well.
Stacey also went downhill not long after getting into the lodge. The importance of hydration. She’s not one to drink gallons of water but her comment was “I don’t want to feel like that again” so has been sipping away all day.
Dale woke up feeling “off colour” and hasn’t been able to eat much today either. She found the strength still to get up Namche Hill without a problem. She wishes she had days where she went off her food at home....it’s a great weight loss but maybe not good in the Himalayas.
Evan and Elaine are powering on and Matt......well Matt is well and truly blowing his daily budget of $50 on food/accommodation. He does like to eat and his bill is around the same as Dale and Stacey’s together. When he can’t decide what to eat he orders both. Still it’s better to have an appetite than not.
Here at Namche we have bakeries and cappuccinos with proper machines. I know what I’m doing after our acclimatization walk!!!
Tonight is a blue moon. An event that hasn’t happened in 152 years. We have read that Nepal will have the pleasure of witnessing this. At the moment it is clear so we are waiting for it to get dark and hopefully no cloud will come over.

Fantastic, all of you. Particularly those with upset tums'..!! Dorrie, you champ. The Namche climb may not be the hardest on this trek, but it's the first, and is therefore never easy..!
Stacey, Water will be your new best friend over the next week. Get stuck into it....PLEASE..!!!
Sue, load some rocks into Evan and Elaine's packs just to slow them.
Matt. Most of us lose weight on the EBC trek...!!!!

The EB power supply came close to running out today, approaching Everest View Hotel. Rocks in the head more appropriate than the back pack !!

Hi Sue, waiting to hopefully see the triple lunar event; a supermoon, blue moon with a total lunar eclipse at 12.30am here! With an hour to go it's still very cloudy.
Well done thus far on the trek. Enjoying the blog.

Thanks Suzi, our view of the moon was pretty spec. Unfortunately the iPhone doesn’t capture it very well. We got to see it at around 8pm.

A warning to 2018EBC team, keep Didi in sight. On this "rest"/acclimatisation day in 2012, my team leader and Didi, your leader, abandoned me on the descent from Everest View Hotel. It had been a tough walk up from Namche just to get to a hotel that does not sell beer. After walking several kms off course, I was saved by several young children.

...who to this day continue to ask "why do they call him "Wine""

Why they call him Wine? Wine is alcohol......all good wine, we started with 7 and ended with 7. Phew.

Only joking about being abandoned on the Everest View Hotel descent, Didi. I had Khumjung (lunch stop) in my sights the whole time. I could not think of a better person to lead EBC2018. Does this sound like crawling!

Wine. I can't think of anyone better to lead an EBC trek either!

Hi 2018 EBCers. Like many back in Melbourne, I'm following the blog trek with envy. Enjoy today's walk up to Everest View. A bit of huffing and puffing I expect. Keep up the good work.

Ahhhh NAFF, welcome to the blog. Khukuri rum gets mentioned a lot on this trip. They are still short on supplies from last year.

Watch out for the garlic soup!

Is that what happened to poor Bill? Too much garlic soup. Yes I did warn the group as good as it is for you with respiratory aid and acclimatization aid, it also works as a good laxative and in the Himalayas a laxative is the last thing you need. 💩

Great work team, keep it up! Blog triffic, as always, thank you for the updates, got quite excited at this photo of you guys' first view of Everest, that must've been a very cool moment. Love to Mum & Dad and everyone especially Mum's giant white hat...

We love the white hat and it wouldn’t be the same without it. Photos don’t do this place justice. I could post about 20 photos each day but try and pick around 6 of the best. Pleased your enjoying what we get up to.

Well done Trekkers. I remember that climb into Namche well. If you get the chance, check out the shops. I still want to know,Evan and Elaine, whether ABC is more difficult than EBC. Let me know at the end of the trek. Dave will also be waiting for your opinions!!!!

Hi Michelle, Evan said after the climb up to Everest View Hotel he can’t remember anything being that hard on the ABC trip. Mmmm this could cause a stir amongst some of the blog followers.
