Our last view of Everest

Where it all began...minus Rhonda, Lauren & Prakash.
Full on sunshine. We left Namche at 7.45am. Lunch at Phakding and arrived into Lukla at 3.30pm. Our last night on the trek and we get en-suite rooms. Promises of a hot shower. It’s been sunny for two days so solar should mean hot water right??? No...! No hot showers at Paradise lodge. Hotel Moonlight back in Kathmandu has been very hit and miss with hot showers too. So if we get back to Kat tomorrow and find no hot water there, I think we will all have some complaining to do.

Not much to report on today’s trekking. Everyone feeling strong and very glad to be back at Lukla. Our in sync coughing fits haven’t eased and we hope once we get back to the milder temperatures of Kat will help.

Have heard from Rhonda. Her and Lauren have managed to change their flight and left Kathmandu for Bangkok today.

We have just been told we are on first flight out of Lukla so if the planes are on time we need to be at the airport by 6.15am. Fun times of Lukla airport. Forecast is looking good from both ends but it only takes a bit of wind even with the bluest of skies and they close the airport. Let’s wait and see.

Well done everyone, especially you Gman. I remember you saying to me months ago that you weren’t confident you’d be able complete the trek. Throw in a bad tummy to make it harder again, yet there you are back in Lukla having completed the mighty EBC trek.
Sue, so looking forward to de-briefing this trip. So much to talk about. Good luck with flight back to Kat.

Although no hot water at Paradise Lodge, you would have received a warm welcome from Dawa. Why the change from Kathmandu Guesthouse to Hotel Moonlight?

Dawa hasn’t been there for my last 4 visits Wine. Always in Kathmandu or visiting children overseas.

With Nabin now gone from KGH I doubt we would get the good rate that was always offered. Moonlight has great reviews and is in the top 5 hotels in Kathmandu on trip advisor. KGH sits around 17. Ticked all the boxes and cheaper than KGH but I ask the question how a hotel that is so hit and miss with hot water gets in the top 5??? This morning we all had hot water. Tonight I have none. Tomorrow is anyone’s guess. They need to get it sorted. I’d happily pay KGH prices for guaranteed hot water “every” time.

Thanks Suez. I’m checking out cashmere scarves for you and 100% Cashmere only comes in those monochrome colors. Are you happy to go a fabric mix to get the colors you like?

Thanks for sharing this post. The picture of Everest reminded of my time there. The Everest Base Camp Trek is a really memorable experience that you could ever have.
