Sun 27th Jan. Everest "No" View Hotel...

We kind of got a sleep in this morning by not having to pack our room up. Today is our first acclimatization day. We started a little after 9am. It’s a steep climb out of Namche up to Everest View. The trail still covered in snow. Not even my favorite mountain Ama Dablam was in sight due to fog/cloud. We couldn’t even sit outside on the verandah to take in the view as it was covered in snow.

After a hot chocolate we made our way back down to Khumjung, walked through the secondary school which was funded by Sir Edmund Hillary and made our way back down to Namche. A few last minute purchasers and now back at the lodge waiting for them to light the fire.

WOW, have to say that on the contrary, the scenery from the EVH balcony looks sensational..! Forecast is showing a mix of more cloud and snow, but also some clearer days as well. Following with interest.

Today was a mixed bag with sunshine in the morning and light snow this afternoon.

Amazing views and photos, cant' wait to see more. Question: What do those "beasts" transport? Hope everyone is acclimatizing well to make their trek smooth as can be. Well Gary for taking this on, there is no way I could have done it. Well done Tess and Josh, what an adventure. So proud of you Tahlia!!

Sophie, the yaks carry anything from gas cylinders to rice bags to cooking equipment. They are incredible watching them navigate tricky terrain. Everyone is acclimatizing well. The odd headache but nothing too bad.

Well done Sue and team on first big day of climbing to get to Namche.. I remember the "rest day" very well. That climb up to Everest View seemed steeper than climbing up to Namche but well worth it..

Dave, I think I will save myself for coast to coast walk across England. Easier climbs and warmer weather
