Wed 30th Jan. Update from David...

Hi Bloggers. This is Sue's brother David.
Like many of you, I was eagerly anticipating an update from the team last night. That update may still arrive later this morning, although I do know that their scheduled stop last night was Dingboche (4,400mts amsl, refer map), where they will stay two nights to acclimatise. This village (from years of experience) is notorious for providing no communications to the outside world. Fixed-line telephones stopped above Namche and the mobile signal to this general area is both very poor and highly dependant on continuous sun to solar power the communications equipment. (no signal at night, or during cloudy days).
All going to plan, the team will spend todays acclimatisation day climbing to the small village of Chhukung @4800mts, then returning back to Dingboche for a second night (approx 4-5hr round trip). Going higher, and then returning back to the same altitude of the previous night helps to ready their bodies to break through 5000mts and beyond from tomorrow.
Hopefully an update from the team later today or tomorrow.

Hope you enjoyed your stroll up to Chukung, has some amazing views. Looks like your still in for some cold days at Lobuche and Gorak Shep.

Kerrie. They all appear to be going along well. And Sue is experienced at looking out for and managing signs of altitude related illnesses.
My schedule has them tackling Kala Pattar either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Forecast shows Saturday as being a slightly better day (Sunday better again..!!). Will wait and see..!!

Go Rhondy, Legs and crew. You are half way to top. Only five more days until you get back to the bakery and six for that shower and massage.

Hi Gman have been following your expoits and will be using you as an inspiration in the coming days for my big day at the superbowl. We seem to be like minded elite athletes ready to take on the world.

And Gman rembember what you tell everyone or anyone that has ever doubted, thought they did not measure up or wanted to quit, you tell them to look up, get up and don't ever give up.

You are my inspiration!!! Dognuts forvever!
