BANGKOK!!!!!
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Guess where we should be?? KATHMANDU!!! We departed Bangkok for Kathmandu this morning in beaut weather, ran into cloud approaching Nepal, circled for 50min awaiting an opening, approached Kat airport (in heavy cloud), literally got to 300 feet from the runway (we could see streets, traffic and people, before the Captain aborted the landing and informed us that deteriorating weather meant we had no choice but to return to Bangkok!!!!  Over 7 hrs in the air today...for no gain..!!!
Thai have arranged accommodation and food for us tonight and we are awaiting an update on what time we will fly out of Kat again tomorrow.  Team are disappointed, but not too distressed.  We all agree that if the Captain thinks it's too dangerous to land, then we're happy with that, right?

Serious. Back to Bangkok??? Its not normally the Thai flight that sends you grey and makes you stress. That flights a couple of days away. Thai airways need to employ the Lukla pilots to land those big suckers.

Hi Sue. Do you want to know what rubs salt into the wound? We learnt this evening (while sitting in Bangkok again) that two following flights got into Kat.....!!! Our “Captain Courageous” decided not to have a second attempt and opted for a 3hr return to our origin. Calcutta was a 45min additional option to refuel and wait it out, but nope, back to Bangkok we went..! Our normal highlight of arriving into Kat is delayed.

This is all due to the Etihad A380 landing in London. If you haven’t seen it, google it. A letter come out publicly from Etihad saying they don’t want to see this again. Use brains and do not land. Put safety first.

Saw it. Very sideways, but agree with Sue, Lukla pilots do it every day.
